Welcome to Payout (available at payoutgroups.com), a product owned and operated by Summer Slice LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). Summer Slice LLC is headquartered online at https://summerslice.xyz.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, store, and otherwise process your personal information when you use the Payout web application, website, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and profile image (if provided).
  • Group & Circle Data: Information about savings circles you create or join, including group names, contribution amounts, schedules, member lists, and payout orders.
  • Payment Records: Details of payment activities you log within the Service, such as payment method (e.g., cash, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay), amounts, dates, and confirmation status. Note: Payout does not process, hold, or transfer any funds. We only track payment records that users self-report.
  • Communications: Messages, feedback, or support requests you send to us.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, clicks, time spent on pages, and interaction patterns within the Service.
  • Device & Browser Data: Device type, operating system, browser type and version, screen resolution, and language settings.
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, referring URLs, and error logs.
  • Cookies & Similar Technologies: We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for session management, authentication, preferences, and analytics. See Section 7 below.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Authentication Providers: If you sign in through a third-party service (e.g., Google, Apple, or email magic links), we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider.
  • Analytics Providers: We may receive aggregated or anonymized analytics data from services like Google Analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Create and manage your account and savings circles.
  • Track and display payment records within your groups.
  • Send transactional notifications (e.g., payment reminders, payout alerts, group invitations).
  • Respond to your support requests and communications.
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience and develop new features.
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
  • Personalized Recommendations: We may show you offers from businesses that match what you are saving for (for example, wedding vendors when your group goal is "wedding") and your location. This helps us keep Payout free for you. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or anyone else. All matching happens inside Payout — your data never leaves our platform. You can turn off personalized offers at any time in your account Settings.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • Within Your Savings Circle: Group members can see your name, profile picture, payment status, and contribution history within shared groups. This is essential for the transparency that savings circles require.
  • Service Providers: We share data with trusted third-party providers who assist in operating the Service, including hosting (e.g., Replit), database services (e.g., Supabase), analytics (e.g., Google Analytics), email delivery, and push notifications. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of Summer Slice LLC's assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • With Your Consent: We may share information for other purposes with your explicit consent.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Specifically:

  • Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
  • Group & Payment Records: Retained for the lifetime of the group, plus 12 months after the group completes its cycle, to allow for dispute resolution and record-keeping.
  • Usage & Log Data: Retained for up to 24 months, then anonymized or deleted.
  • Legal Obligations: Certain data may be retained longer if required by applicable law.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL (256-bit encryption).
  • Encryption at Rest: Sensitive data is encrypted at rest in our databases.
  • Access Controls: Strict role-based access controls limit who can access user data within our organization.
  • Authentication Security: We use secure authentication methods and do not store passwords in plain text.
  • Regular Audits: We periodically review our security practices and infrastructure.

13. No Financial Services

Payout is a tracking and organizational tool only. We do not process payments, hold funds, transfer money, or act as a financial institution. All financial transactions between members of a savings circle occur directly between those members using their preferred external payment methods. Payout bears no responsibility for any financial transactions between users.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
  • Notify you via email or in-app notification (for material changes).
  • Post the updated policy on this page at payoutgroups.com/privacy.

Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
